WHAT IS AN ECM SWEEP?

An Electronic Countermeasures Sweep is a professional service that is called upon much more nowadays, mainly by corporate businesses but also some private clients, especially as cyber security is so important in this modern day and age.

Searching for hidden listening devices, covert cameras and tracking devices, in your business premises, home or vehicle.

Here is a breakdown of what will be done

All the areas nominated will be electronically scanned: -

The equipment deployed will detect covert radio transmissions. and consists of the latest highly sensitive and wide ranging professionally specified Laboratory Grade Radio Spectrum Analysers backed up by highly sensitive handheld Radio Frequency Scanners.

A high-grade computer-based radio scanning system will be used to intercept and demodulate (convert to audio) any suspicious transmissions detected by the Spectrum Analyser this will record the background RF and will be analysed later for Spread Spectrum/Frequency Hopping activity.

Each area will be swept using a stationary ultra-sensitive active antenna array, which will reveal all radio transmissions down to an extremely low level within your premises and the surrounding buildings by default. All transmissions are noted, and commercial stations eliminated. By default, due to the extremely high sensitivity of the spectrum analysis detection equipment, the local area including buildings in the near vicinity, are also included. It is not unusual to detect transmissions known to be in use with covert listening devices within neighbouring buildings (not your premises) although unable to investigate, you will be informed if detected.

The nominated rooms including desk areas will then be physically searched for hard wired devices and hand scanned using wide band near - field military grade detectors tuned to the scanned transmissions which were not accounted for in the first step.

All the telephones units in the areas listed will be checked for unusual activity i.e. Surveillance devices built into the handsets and self-powered via built in rechargeable batteries. Each telephone set is examined and scanned for radio transmissions and tested for sound activated transmitters. If the base unit or the handset shows any signs of having been dismantled the device is stripped and the internal electronics minutely examined.

A physical search of the target area is absolutely crucial and the root of all Counter Surveillance Operations, whether the target is commercial, residential or a vehicle. A physical search may be the only means to uncover certain non-emitting surveillance devices, such as hard-wired microphones with recorders, fibre optic devices, passive resonators, data burst transmitters and inactive remote controlled “dormant” devices.

Any devices found will be photographed and evidenced.

So, as you can see it is a very professional and successful service –
