How Can Domestic Surveillance Help Me?
Here at Surelock we have been carrying out successful surveillance operations nationally for over 25 years, our surveillance teams have many years’ experience and are drawn from the police and military service – with many satisfied clients
What is Surveillance
Surveillance is the covert observation or monitoring of an individual using various legal methods to gather intelligence or evidence. It is typically conducted as part of a specific investigation or operation, whether related to criminal activity, civil matters, or personal concerns.
The Different Types of Surveillance
Domestic Surveillance
Domestic surveillance involves discreetly monitoring individuals in personal settings to gather evidence on concerns like infidelity, cohabitation, or child custody disputes. It provides clarity and proof in sensitive situations while maintaining confidentiality.
Corporate
Corporate surveillance helps businesses prevent fraud, theft, and misconduct by monitoring employees, partners, or competitors. It ensures workplace integrity, protects company assets, and supports legal or HR investigations.
Accident injury
Accident injury surveillance verifies the legitimacy of personal injury claims by observing the claimant’s activities. This service helps insurance companies, legal teams, and businesses detect fraudulent claims and protect against financial losses.
Investigative surveillance
Investigative surveillance is a broad service used for legal, personal, or corporate investigations. It involves tracking and gathering evidence through covert methods, assisting in cases such as fraud, disputes, and criminal activities.
Is Surveillance Legal.
Yes, surveillance in a public place is legal, and all our surveillance operations are conducted in full compliance with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) – RIPA Guidelines. While private companies are not legally required to adhere to RIPA, we follow its framework as a matter of best practice to ensure our investigations are conducted lawfully, ethically, and to the highest professional standards.
By operating within these guidelines, we ensure that all evidence gathered is obtained responsibly and can be used effectively for legal or private purposes. Our team is highly trained in surveillance techniques that respect privacy laws while providing our clients with accurate, reliable, and legally sound intelligence.
How to Conduct Surveillance
The first thing we do is to have a chat with the client and establish why they need surveillance, sometimes they ask us to carry out a week’s surveillance, and we explain this could be very expensive “You cannot make surveillance happen, it has to be intelligence lead”.
We need to be fully briefed, the purpose, a full description of the person(s), photograph if possible and details of any vehicle they use.
We complete a Data Protection Impact Assessment proforma
We would then conduct a short period of surveillance utilising at least a three-man team, video record and gather all the intelligence, supplying the client with a detailed log of events with selected photos, evidencing where they went and who they met, which can be used in any legal proceedings. We keep the client fully informed whilst the operation is in progress.
What is Domestic Surveillance?
Many of our surveillance cases start with a call from a worried individual who suspects their partner may be unfaithful. These concerns can be emotionally challenging, and it's not always the man who is suspected. When people reach out, they often ask:
- Can you track their mobile phone? No, this is not ethical and may be illegal.
- Can you monitor their messages? No, accessing private communications without consent is unlawful.
- Can you put a tracker on their car? No, placing a tracker without permission is both unethical and, in most cases, illegal.
There is only one way to legally find out if your partner is cheating on you and that is by professional surveillance – The camera never lies, every picture tells a story.
We discuss with them and establish why they have these fears, what do they need surveillance for, have they already instructed a lawyer, and of course the costs, we are not the type of company that just wants the instruction and take money, we always want to give the best possible service and a week’s surveillance would be very costly.
After having a chat many have the courage to go ahead. It is sad to say that over 95% of the domestic surveillance cases we have dealt with, the client’s worst fears are usually correct, and this is nearly always established on the very first day.
What Intelligence / Evidence do we Supply?
All our surveillance is covertly video recorded, we supply a detailed log of events that show the movements, people they meet, times and places, we can also supply an edited copy of this recording. Our evidence can be used in any legal proceedings and the operatives attend court on your behalf.
What are The Costs.
We work strictly to an hourly rate, our costs are £60 per hour per operative, plus travel, mileage and necessary expenses.
