Formed in 1913, the ABI is the home of professional private sector investigation in the UK. In an industry that’s still unregulated, they work tirelessly to raise standards and to see the credibility of members recognised.

Any investigator who applies for membership is rigorously vetted, he or she will have to produce a criminal records certificate that meets the ABI Policy Statement, hold adequate professional indemnity insurance and show sound financial probity. References are thoroughly checked, and membership is only offered following a face-to-face interview. 

Ron Harrison of Surelock has been a member of the ABI for over 16 years and has served as its President for 3 years before standing down after COVID.

Also, a member of the World Association of Detectives – https://www.theabi.org.uk very important for our international work. Founded in 1925. W.A.D. remains the foremost International Association of Professional Investigators and Security Service organisations. 

Very important for our brand protection work we are members of the Anti-Counterfeiting Group – https://www.a-cg.org ACG is an international voice of business, shaping an effective response to one of the world’s most insidious and menacing transnational crimes.

One of ACG’s most important functions is to provide effective liaison between UK, EU and international law enforcement and rights holders. Focusing on delivering training in practical events including Intellectual Property Expo’s, dedicated Border Force and Trading Standards training and Brand Protection practice events. These are held across the UK and Ireland. 

We are also pleased to be able to sponsor the National Markets Group – https://www.realdealmarkets.co.uk the NMG was established in 2008 to provide a forum for a national, co-ordinated, cross-sector approach to tackle the trade in counterfeit goods at markets and car boot fairs.
